PlanetWise is a web based portal developed by Environmental specialists and IT experts in their ongoing quest to provide a scalable solution for exchange and monitoring of variables affecting the environment. The vision is to provide a one-stop shop for management of Permits, Legislative information which affect the environment. The users being National, Regional governments and the objective of transparent sharing of information between nations, companies etc.

All this is achieved by having the following features available in the Portal Framework which is common to all Business processes

• Access Control and security based on Country, Department, Designation and Location
• ECMS to publish Legislation related documents
• Workflow Engine to manage routing of tasks, escalation, procedural compliance
• Business and Locational Intelligence tools to conduct Environmental Impact Analysis etc.
• Search Engine to search for information across sub-systems
• Harmonised code list of Pollutants, Endangered species, Waste types etc.
• Integrated GIS Interface to display and search all information

For all permits there is a common Compliance and monitoring module that records Incidents/complaints and using a Workflow processes manage the inspections, their outcomes and any follow-up action including legal case files etc.
